Meet Richard
Richard is a clever and thoughtful young man who lives at PARCA’s Alameda House, a shared living residence for adults with developmental disabilities. Moving from his family home to an independent, shared living situation was a huge transition for Richard, made easier with the help of PARCA’s Independent Living Services staff. They work with Richard on a regular basis to help him manage his health concerns, improve his communication skills and pursue his interests.
Richard’s accomplishments since moving to Alameda House are truly amazing! With PARCA’s help he has gained the confidence to enroll at Canada College and attends classes there twice a week. Richard is now more comfortable in social situations, attending PARCA events and organizing regular dinner and game night get-togethers with his housemates. In 2014 PARCA presented Richard with the Client Achievement award for his remarkable progress in realizing his goals.
All of the remarkable people who are part of the PARCA family grace our lives with compassion, courage, and a very special wisdom about life. It is our honor to both support them, and learn from them. Our donors make it possible for PARCA to help them lead rich, full lives as independently as possible.
